If you don’t renew your domain name by the expiration date, it will enter a grace period during which traffic to your website and email will be interrupted.  Your website will be replaced with a parking page indicating that the name has expired.  The grace period typically lasts at least 35 days, though this does vary by the extension of your domain name.  After the grace period ends, the domain will be deleted and made available for others to register.

Yes!  Many organizations will choose to register a domain name as a placeholder for the upcoming launch of a brand or product.  This is a great way to reserve your name before you’re ready to begin using it.  You don’t need to host anything on your domain right away, but when you’re ready, we’ll be glad to help you get going.

The duration of a domain transfer can be highly variable, but is dependent on two main factors.  The first is the approval of the domain owner.  Once that is processed, the losing registrar will need to approve the transfer as well.  This usually only a maximum of a few days, but is entirely dependent on how quickly the registrar takes action on the transfer request.  Feel free to contact us to check on the status of your transfer.
